Chowy’s AI does two jobs in the iPhone beta: it answers questions from your dog’s own records, and it reads vet documents into entries you review. This page says what is sent, what is never sent, and how the demo on this website works.
Two workflows
Ask the book
You ask a question about your dog. Chowy’s server sends the AI the question with your dog’s profile, active medications, recent records and the titles of your documents. The AI answers with citations to record ids, and the server keeps only citations to records it actually sent, so every source you see opens a real entry. A citation does not make an answer correct: check what matters.
Turn a document into records
You choose a photo or PDF of a vet document. The AI reads it into a structured draft (dates, weight, medicines, observations), and nothing is saved until you review the draft and decide what belongs in the book.
Chowy sends nothing to the AI until you allow it once in the app. You can turn AI off in Settings at any time: that stops any further sending, but what was already sent is not recalled.
Chowy’s AI helps you find and organise facts. It does not diagnose, and treatment decisions stay with your veterinarian.
What is sent, and what is never sent
Sent to the AI, after your consent
For an answer or a report summary: your question, your dog’s profile, active medications, recent records and the titles of your documents.
For a document import: the photo or PDF you choose.
Never sent
Your account email and account id.
Your other dogs.
The emails of people you share a dog with.
Records are sent as you wrote them, so a name, address or phone number typed into a record goes with it.
Chowy passes your records to the AI as data, not as instructions: text inside a record is part of the dog’s history, never a command to the model.
Where the answers come from
The answers are generated by a language model from Anthropic, called from Chowy’s server; the key never reaches your phone or this website.
How long the provider keeps what is sent, and whether it is used for training, is in the privacy policy.
Volly, her family and her records are fictional. When you ask a question on the home page, your browser sends it to Chowy’s demo service, which sends it to the AI with Volly’s records. When you ask Chowy to read a Chowy Sense week, only the week’s name and the page language are sent; every reading is simulated.
Chowy does not store your question or your IP address. It keeps the answer and a hash of the normalised question for 7 days, so the same question gets the saved answer without a new call, labelled as saved. To limit abuse, it keeps only a salted hash of your network address that changes every day.
Each visitor gets up to 6 live answers an hour, and the site up to 300 a day. Please don’t type personal details into the demo.
A document becomes part of the story.
The idea is simple: Chowy reads the document, you check the extracted details, then decide what belongs in the book. Try checking a draft below.

Vision · Chowy Sense
What if her book could notice a little more?
Our vision: connect compatible smart collars and temperature-sensing microchips to your dog’s book, so Chowy can read activity, rest and temperature next to the family’s notes. No device is connected yet. Here, pick a simulated week and ask Chowy to read it, live.

Our familiar route, with a few extra stops to sniff.
Andriy
A rainy afternoon, so we took a shorter route.
Olena
After the walk: usual appetite, feeling well.
Andriy
A relaxed day at home, just a short walk around the block.

Back to the park. Added a photo of her by the pond.
Olena
An ordinary Friday: two walks.
Andriy
Longest walk of the week: a new woodland trail, about an hour and a half.

Simulated readings · a real AI reading
Only the week’s name and the page language are sent.
Prepared example note
An ordinary week
An ordinary week for Volly. Wednesday (32 minutes) and Saturday (92 minutes) sit just outside her usual 40–90 minutes of activity, and the family’s notes explain both: a relaxed day at home and a long woodland walk. Rest and the evening temperature readings stayed in her usual ranges.

Next · planned
More useful things from the same book.
We plan to explore AI-assisted vet briefs, document translations, voice notes and access to the book through MCP. Each needs its own testing before release.
Vision · later
Compatible devices first.
We plan to explore trackers and sensors for activity, rest and temperature. Our own Chowy device is a longer-term ambition. These integrations are not available yet; no manufacturer partnership is announced. Temperature-sensing microchips would require a compatible reader, not provide continuous remote monitoring.
How the service is secured
HTTPS only, with a strict transport security (HSTS) policy.
A Content Security Policy with a fresh nonce for every page, so the site runs only its own scripts and a short list of named services.
Row-level security on every database table: a dog’s records are readable only by the people its book is shared with. Automated tests check that no table is left without it.
The AI provider’s API key and the database’s server keys stay on the server.
Export every record as a file for free, and delete your account and data from the app or from your web account.
